  3. Come Together Gentle Yoga - Session 2

    A 60-minute class of gentle yoga poses that focus on flexibility and mobility. Postures are performed lying on the floor, seated, kneeling and standing. It is recommended that you have the ability to move between these positions. Students are encouraged to bring yoga blocks and a strap to assist postures. We use slow, dynamic movement, breathing strategies, and a short meditation to create a calm experience. The instructor will help you learn how to move into poses and adjust poses to work with your body. This is an opportunity for everyone to come together for a focused time to nurture body, mind, and spirit. Registration deadline: Jan. 8.

    A 60-minute class of traditional yoga poses that focus on strength and flexibility. The class uses continuous flowing sequences to move through three energy phases: Gentle stretches and warming postures, strengthening postures and balance work, deep stretches, and mind work. Students are encouraged to bring yoga blocks and a strap to assist postures. The class moves slowly and focuses on precision for optimal health and safety in a challenging practice.     Online participants will have the opportunity to play in an eSports league competition hosted by Blaze Fire Games. Register to play Rocket League, FIFA Soccer, NFL Madden Football, NBA2K, or more with local area competitors in a secure, monitored, and fun environment. League play is done remotely from your home on your gaming consoles: Xbox One, PS4/PS5, Nintendo Switch, and/or PC. Let us know your gaming system when you register. Players will receive a new, 3-game schedule each Wednesday through the GYO eSports schedule platform. Flex scheduling will allow you a week to complete your matches, and you may use our tools to select competition times that work for both players. All leagues run 5 weeks for the regular season, with top competitors being invited back for a 6th week to participate in a playoff tournament. You may select up to 3 games to play with your registration fee, and you will complete 3 matches per week in your selected titles.

    Pilates uses precise movements to build strength, mental focus and control. Each exercise is rooted in spinal movement or spinal stabilization. Limbs are used as weights as well as tests of coordination, balance and flexibility. Exercises are done lying on your back, lying on your side, prone, or seated. Please wear comfortable clothing meant for exercise and bring a mat. This class is designed specifically for students new to Pilates practice who are interested in discovering what it is all about.   3. Mah Jongg for Beginners

    Neuroscientists recommend playing Mah Jongg (a complex thinking game) to improve memory. Psychologists deem it's low-cost therapy; players call it fun! A tile-based, 4-player game created for the ruling class during the time of Confucius in China, Mah Jongg has now spread worldwide. The object of the game is to collect winning sets of tiles. The tiles have characters and numbers, and the rules are intriguing. Instructor Melinda Colwell teaches the modernized and westernized version in this 6-week class. NOTE: Each participants will be required to have their own Mah Jongg set (borrow a friend's or buy your own; the Senior Center can also assist in ordering a set for you).
