Overview
The Chanhassen Park Department maintains 29 parks, 14 park preserves, 70 miles of pedestrian trails and sidewalks, and the downtown green spaces and boulevards. This is accomplished by utilizing 7 full-time employees and 16 seasonal employees. The city also maintains 503 acres of natural preserve land and 405 acres of developed parkland.
The Park Department maintains:
- 20 youth baseball / softball fields
- 19 soccer fields
- 16 tennis courts
- 4 youth/adult baseball fields
- 3 adult softball fields
The Park Maintenance Department also maintains:
- 17 park shelters
- 10 fishing piers
- 5 additional fishing docks
- 5 public beaches
- 3 rental picnic areas
- 3 boat launches
Other recreational areas maintained include:
- 28 parks with playground equipment
- 26 basketball courts
- 4 sand volleyball courts
- 4 family rinks
- 4 hockey rinks
- 10 pickleball courts
- 1 disc golf course
- 1 skate park
- 5 sledding hills
The community garden and Pioneer Cemetery are also maintained by the Park Department.
